Many great food discoveries have happened by accident, and the Mysore Pak is one of the most notable. In 1935 Kakasura Madappa, the Chief Chef to the Maharaja of Mysore, was trying to put together an unusual dessert using ghee, gram flour and sugar. In haste, he created a thick sweet syrup, but by the time Krishna Raja Wodeyar IV got to it, the dessert had turned into a soft solid form that simply melted in the mouth. Not too many bites later, it was deemed 'The Royal Sweet'.
